Wickerwork

Wickerwork This industry started in Camacha, in 1850. The village remains its biggest production centre until this day. Willow is grown all over the island in marginal lands and next to other crops grown in humid soil and easy to irrigate. Willow rods come in different sizes and diameters. They are cut, peeled and dried and then transformed into chairs, tables, cribs, boxes, etc.
