Museu Quinta das Cruzes
It is said by many to have been the last home to João Gonçalves Zarco, one of the three discoverers of Madeira, Quinta das Cruzes is one of the most beautiful and prestigious Madeiran «quintas». It was purchased by the State to be converted into a museum in 1946.
The collections include for the most part pieces of Decorative Arts from different provenances and dating from the 16th to the 19th centuries, as well as Furniture, Goldsmithery, Painting, Sculpture and Ceramics. It also houses an Archaeological Park.
