Funchal Natural History Museum
Set at the Palácio de São Pedro, in Funchal, it is the oldest museum in activity in the Madeira Archipelago.
It started as a Regional Museum which combined Natural History and Ethnology and Archaeology. Today, however, it is strictly a Natural History Museum.
Since its opening, the museum has only exhibited species captured in the Madeira Archipelago. The core of its activity is the study of Madeira’s fauna, flora and geology.
