Jardim do Miradouro Vila Guida
Area: 2,000 square metres
It is set in Rua Conde Carvalhal, overlooking Funchal bay and therefore a great lookout point.
The garden’s upper section is occupied by three bougainvillea-clad belvederes. On the garden’s lower level, pathways made of basaltic slabs separate the flower beds where small trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants have been planted. The largest and tallest trees are on the east end of the garden not to obstruct the view of the city and harbour.
This garden-belvedere boasts seven palm tree species, tipuanas, two large kapok trees and a frangipani or tooth-plant, which in hot summer days lends joy and colour to this place.
